It’s Been a Long Time Coming

by The Graham Investor on December 3, 2009

Finally, the updated Graham Investor site! For some time we’ve been trying to get away from the Plone Content Management System, as the migration path was seriously broken, and the plugins were dead in the water or few and far between. It was becoming next to impossible to add any content. The Graham Investor is now running on a heavily-customized WordPress installation. This should allow for more frequent updates and constant improvements.

In the coming weeks we’ll be rolling out new stock screens with more robust data that is also more up-to-date, and better categorization of stocks according to sector/industry, etc. The new back-end will allow us to save quarterly fundamental data for most stocks, and therefore eventually have a more lengthy historical record than can be found elsewhere. This should allow for more interesting comparisons and charting in the longer-term.

If there are any broken links left over from the old site, 404′s etc, or even anything you would like to see, please let me know.

Glad you got things working and I link the new look. It’s good to see one of my favorite sites up and at ‘em :)

I was not able to obtain a single quote this morning from your new look.

I forgot to add what the problem was.

The requested URL /quotes was not found on this server.

Apache/2.2.11 (Fedora) Server at http://www.keown.is-a-geek.com Port 80

Jim, thanks for letting me know. Should be fixed now.

Still a few formatting issues on the quotes, mostly dollar signs where there should be none. Also, as there have been a number of issues with erroneous data, be sure to check the numbers against the companies’ reports before acting.

Thanks a lot for the information about the quotes formatting – I will change that.
It’s too bad about the data sources being wrong; I have informed them.
Hopefully a change in the data source shortly will help a bit.
